Pushing head against the glass and overactivity

My corn is about 2 and a half now and in the last 4 weeks or so has just been going mental. He is usually very relaxed and likes to sleep in his hides most of the time but has recently been so over-active. Burrowing under the newspaper, pressing his head against the glass with all the weight of his body causing him to get black wear marks on his nose and the top of his head - just really going mad all the time; through the night and day!

Nothing has changed recently in his viv, he has been eating regularly and isn't off his food - he only shed about three weeks ago so it isn't that.

Anyone have any ideas what could be going on and how I can calm him down again? Seems a bit late for breeding season?

Not only is he keeping me up at night with his rustling and head banging, I am just really concerned about what's got him so unhappy and restless :(

Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

thanks! any idea how long I can expect this behaviour to last or any tips on how to stop him hurting himself against the glass?

Any changes in heating recently? Can you double-check the heat source and tank floor temps with a different thermometer? They can go a bit nuts if they're overheating - possibly your heat controller or thermometer is fritzing? It's pretty late in the season for this to be mating behaviour.

At least you know it's unlikely to be the ambient temperature! I don't think the UK's had summer yet...

My male corn is going crazy right now. It's thanks to the breeding season! He's rubbing his head and he's even given himself a small red wound from rubbing against the screen! There isn't too much you can do about it, mines been acting like this for the past 3 or 4 weeks and I think he's just starting to calm down. Keep an eye on him and if he rubs himself raw or hurts himself try applying some neosporin without pain killers and making sure his cage is clean! He'll be okay but I know it's a little bit annoying :)
