hi there i have a four year old corn snake, hes 5 foot long and a great wee snake. iv always fed him on frozen mice, but am contemplating whether to give him a quail egg occasionally? i have read that it can be nutririous but am just worried as iv never kept any other snakes and never tried before. can any of you give me any tips or tell me about your experiences which may influence or help me? thanks ;)

I have seen a video of an adult corn snake eating quail eggs. I don't know how common it is to offer corn snakes eggs, but this one ate several during the video. It was kind of impressive to watch.

Go for it! I game my hoggie some robin eggs that fell out of a tree last year and it was fun to watch.

Nope, the shell went all the way down. Apparently it digested well too, 'cause I didn't see any in her poop afterward.

I don't see why not. I've given my milk snakes a few eggs from my pet dove.. she lays 3 a week... I got sick of throwing them out. there's no male dove.. I don't know why she insist on laying more lol. Tatsu (my milk) loved it...

Years ago I gave my Adult Amel my sisters daughters parakeets unplanned eggs (they didnt know they had M & F's) they then seperated them, lol.

Before she tossed them, she asked if my snake could eat them, I had no idea, but googled it at the time & decided to give it a go. He seemed to enjoy his eggy snack. Popped em right down, 1 right after the other.

Have you tried giving her fake eggs to incubate? That might slow her down a little. Pigeon people do that. In fact, my male pigeon sits on fake eggs all the time.

Yes, giving fake eggs will be very good for her. You just get three round objects (don't even have to be the right size) and replace the real ones as they are laid. She'll set them for quite some time and will either abandon the nest or knock them out when they don't hatch. Just going on laying like that will deplete her calcium reserves and cause problems. Eggbinding being the most common issue.

We've tried it. shes knows they are fake and either throws them out of the nest within a couple of days or just goes on laying right next to them, i normally just let her keep her eggs, for about a month. she wont sit on more then 3 real ones at a time. shes overly smart for a dove. its kinda creepy lol

as far as the calcium lost shes on a supplement, and as sick as it sounds i will crush up chicken eggs into a powder and dust her food with it for added nutrients.
