So my snake had a bad shed and I took care of it and got off the rest of what was on his body... but what I was wondering, is how can you tell if the scales over the eyes are gone or are still there?
 
Ooh...lol That's a tough one, never had this experience but I would imagine it might be pretty tough to tell...

Honestly I think the best way would be to check the bits that have already been shed and see if you can't find the head piece and check for eye caps.

Haven't had to deal with that yet, BUT... look closely at your snake's eyes (if you can get hold of a magnifying glass, all the better). IF the lens caps didn't come off, you should be able to see either a raised edge or a little fuzziness where the rest of the skin tore from around the lens. Again, that's a guess, but is what I'd try first.

A close inspection should work.

I always check the head piece for the eye caps every time a snake sheds.
