I have aspen bedding in my cage so when it time for feeding put the snake in a seperate container, right?
How deep should that container be?

Definitely. You want to avoid allowing the snake to swallow any aspen chips that might get stuck to the prey item.

The container can be any size as far as depth goes. It's a good idea that it not be too big (area/floor space wise). The smaller the area you contain the snake in, the more likely it is to encounter the prey item, which isn't as big of a deal for established eaters. For some snakes that are picky eaters, it's more important to confine them to a smaller space.

Just make sure the container has air holes and you should be good to go.

How exciting for you to be getting your first cornsnake! Congratulations. I am sure you will love having a snake for a pet. I have over 40 snakes now...and am working a deal for two more. They can be addictive
