Quick question about calcium

Snakes do get all the nutrients they need from a mouse. I am currently using reptasol in my females water

I started to use it for my female who recently laid and hadnt eaten for 2 months. As soon as I started using this she ate again 2 days later. Maybe coincidence, I dont know but now i have started to use it on all 3 of my females one of which is gravid and the other I plan to breed soon. This was highly reccomended to me.

I also use this

in my males water. Not because it is neccesary though. I would say its up to you if you supplement it or not. There is no real need to though.

In over 45 years of snake husbandry I have never supplemented my snakes with vitamins or calcium, not even when conditioning them for breeding. They have all lived long and healthy lives and have not been any worse for wear because I did not supplement them. However, I do feed my own mice and rats that I raise specifically as feeders and these do get supplements, which they pass on to the snakes when they become food.

As far as the issue of Reptile Lover, you're flogging a dead horse and wasting time and energy on this string. As a beginner I made some mistakes and lost a couple of snakes because of my inexperience. We all are learning and you have to give this kid a chance to learn from his mistakes and become a better keeper and by extension a better person. It's better to keep him on the forum and point out his errors and help to teach him than to cast stones -- because I'm sure some of you are guilty of making mistakes somewhere and nobody is perfect.

Reptile Lover -- you have an opportunity to learn here, just turn a blind eye to the criticisms and if you need help, I'll be more than willing to lend my experience. Just be up front and honest (lies and inconsistencies have a way of coming back and biting you). :toiletgra
