Quick question about substrate

Plissken

Crazy Snail Lady
Hi everyone,
I'm getting my first snake next week and I'm in the process of getting his tank ready. I just have a quick silly question about substrate, due to the fact I'm on a tight budget and don't have many reptile stores near me I was going to use newspaper or plain white paper in the tank, my question is, is it best to shred the paper or should I just put it down flat on the bottom of the tank?

Thanks in advance.

I asked a question similar to this a while back, and from the replies, it appears that you can do either, it doesn't really matter, although I would lay some flat on the floor to help keep her off the glass, so as to prevent burning from the heat mats...
Your Welcome
Chris :)

Thank you Scrub! I was planning to just lay it flat so he can't burrow down and burn himself on the glass (I will of course provide lots of hide places.) You confirmed what I was thinking really, thanks.

Heh, I was just glad to be able to answer a question for once... lol, I don't have a snake either yet, so I just pass on what I've learnt...

Chris
