so... i have had my ultramel for like 3 days.... i feed him yesterday and i was expecting him to just go hide after he had eaten to let the food digest... not my snake he cruised around the tank all night and the all day today... every now and then he will curl up and sleep... my other hatchling ate and dissapered... so my question is with my ultramel i am figuring i might have to feed him twice a week? looking at him now the next day you cant even reallly tell he has eatin the lump in his body is almost gone..... just looking for your advice on feeding little guys twice a week... thanks all

What size prey item are you feeding? If you are feeding 1 pinky and there is no lump after 24 hours, I would suggest you feed him 2 pinkies at his next feeding time. Don't feed him more often, just larger food.

well when i bought him the guy told me he hadnt eatin yet... so i was like ok at his first feeding it took him a second to attack the pinky... so i knew he was hungry... so u think the f/t pinkys are not enough... hes a small snake they guy said he wasnt even a couply months old..

When I first got my snakes, they ate up the F/T pinky I offered them. The next scheduled feeding I bumped them both up to 2 pinkies a feeding. After that (many feeding later) I went to a fuzzy.

I think you should offer 2 pinkies next feed (about 4-5 days after the last one).

Two pinks at one time is sort of a transitionaly feeding to prepare your little guy for the larger fuzzies. I only fed my snakes 2 pinks for about 5 feedings before they moved up to fuzzies.

Besides, if you spread out the pinks into two more frequent feedings, you'll never get a chance to hold your snake! By the time you give 48 hours + to digest, you'll be ready to feed again.

You need at least 4 days between to make sure it's fully digested. When I'm feeding pinkies I usually feed that often anyway-especially with small hatchlings. It's usually easiest to go with two at a time and then transition up to the next size, or try one large pinky, one bordering on a fuzzy next time.

I fed all of my babies every four days for the first month. If they ate the first, I offered them a second. Most of them ate that as well. After the first month, I gradually increased the days between feedings, and chose larger pinkies as the snakes grew. About a third of them are ready to move to fuzzies at three months of age and six days between feedings, most of the others should be ready at four months. A couple, those that usually ate only one pinkie per feeding, may not reach the fuzzy eating stage until six months. When they reach fuzzies, I feed them once a week, first offering one, then a second if they ate that.

Remember, each snake is unique: YMMV

so how long do i wait to offer the second pinkie? as soon as the first is eatin or what a few mins after?

As soon as the first has cleared the neck, while they are still in feeding mode. Mine usually start hunting at that point, so I drop in the second pinkie.

ok so i feed him on tues... i will try again on sunday and try offering two... the guy at the store said he wasnt that old but im thinking a pinkie maybe too small he cleared it in 24 hours..... if he does the same on sunday with 2 should i consider moving him up on size of prey?

Use how long the bulge remains as a guide. If you can't see the bulge after 24 hours, it's time to move up. Some people move up sooner, but I'm a little conservative on feeding sizes.

Make sure to give him a few 2-pinky feedings before you you him up to the next prey size.

hey guys i just wanted to say thanks for all the advice.... i gave him to pinkys today and he struck at both instantly.... so i will keep him at 2 for awhile then try moving him up.... thanks again
