It could be the male that's doing it, or that they only throw such babies in combination with each other. It could be that the female would be a miami had she not been expressing mutants at those two loci.

"From miami lines" works too. If you say "het miami" then people who know anything about genetics (a growing population in our hobby) will translate that directly into "I don't know what I'm talking about." :)
 
Yeah, I need to brush up on my genetics knowledge. That class gave me fits in college.
Simple Punnet's squares I can do. What with all the new info and terminiology popping up around here, one really needs to stay on one's toes.
 
You aren't kidding, Chuck! I went to the St. Louis reptile show this weekend and someone was selling amels het for creamsicle. I asked the guy why the snakes were labeled like that. He said "because they are carrying the 'creamsicle' gene". I informed him that a snake cannot be het for creamsicle. They either have or don't have emoryi blood. If they are amel and have emoryi blood, then they are creamsicles. I think he did not like me very much after putting him in his place. :rolleyes: Needless to say, I would not have bought ANYTHING from him because he did not know what he was talking about.
