Rat Colony Question

I recently bought a rat colony of 1.2.

When they start to breed, do I take the male out or can I keep him in with the females and babies?

I like rats much better than mice which is why I decided to start breeding them. The rats are so cute! The male is a brown/white rex so I named him Rex (he's my favorite), one female is black/white normal with a cute white blaze going up her face so I named her Blaze, and the other female is a red-eyed white normal so I named her Snow White.

Anyway, thanks in advance!

Most of the rodent breeders I know leave the male in with the females. It prevents a breakdown of the social pecking order that rodents tend to develope. Yes, sometimes the males will eat the babies - though that rarely happens, at least in my experience.

I breed probably close too 800-1000 rats, the only time the males will eat the babies is when A. They are the offspring of a different male or B. There is a malfunction with the water, or a lack of food. However the females will also eat the babies if not provided with food or water. You shoul be fine with just 1.2 leaving the male in with the females
