Rat Food

The best thing to use for a food holder for lab blocks is a lab block hopper like this:

Made out of 1/2" hardware mesh, they have to break off pieces of food through the bars to eat it.

I modeled it after the Ware Mfg "Lab Block Hoppers" that used to be available.

Oh and the "nutri" something lb block from PetSmart is probably from Kaytee, check the label. Fine for occasional use I imagine but I wouldn't keep feeding it to them permanently

It's called Nurtiphase. 16% crude protein. Wonder what the difference is between crude protein and protein. Maybe the crude stuff insults them as they eat it. :dancer:

I went home for lunch and the new mom rat has almost all the aspen in her corner covering her and her pups. I guess she doesn't want me stealing any more. She had 10 Monday evening and last evening I took 5 to freeze. I have to close my heart in order to do that, they are so cute and helpless but I have to remember that we got them to feed my other babies.
