Re-introduction haha

cohazard

corn snake noob!
Hi, I joined the site a while back to learn about keeping cornsnakes, but I never got one because I moved and didn't have a spot for the tank setup.

But, I'm finally getting ready to own my first snake :D

I'll be picking up a 40g herp tank this saturday, and today after work I'll be looking for a thermometer with probe and hygrometer at walmart.

Now I have to pick which morph I want :D

I do have a question about heating, but I'll post that in the appropriate forum.

Thanks Alan :)

I have a couple in mind, but it's a hard decision.

I really want a bright orange snake, like a hypo blood, but blizzards are also very very high on my list right now.

I would prefer not to order online but amazon reptiles hasn't had any special colubrids listed lately, so I may end up ordering from south mountain reptiles.

One of the pet stores I always go to for fish food and what not has a bigger snow corn, but I want to start off with a smaller snake so that I can watch it grow.

Hopefully I can find a reptile show locally, that would be best :)

There's quite a group on here from your area. There's a So Cal Corn Club forum in the members forums section. Usually they post about shows.

Cool, I will look into their going-on's :)

It's a strange feeling being the 'noob' in the hobby. When it comes to fish keeping, I'd say I know my stuff haha

I like it though because I'm constantly learning and thinking of questions and trying to answer them.

Thank you Maize! I know, I'm a bit worried about their addictiveness haha, but I'm committed to being a one snake guy.

I have my hands full with all the fish and the kitten :D

The truth is, I had a heck of a time getting the green light from my brother and sister :sidestep:

Nobody in my family has ever had one, so they had a lot of misconceptions about the snake and were of course worried mainly about my nephew.

I explained hand washing precautions, the docile nature of the snakes (after proper acclimation and handling) and I assured them the tank would be secured.

Luckily I did all my research here at CS.com so I knew what I was talking about and was able to inform them of how safe cornsnakes can be around children. :D
