Re: temp in new tank
I have a new 60 gallon tank I've set up for my snake. I set it up last night with an appropriate sized UTH and thermostat. However, the temp does not seem to be rising on the warm side well enough. The cool side is 74.3 F and the warm side is only 77.2 F (measured from the top of the substrate). It has been about 12 hours.
The other thing is that since the tank is so large, about half of the portion of the tank with the UTH hangs over the edge of the stand it is on (about 5 inches). Will this keep the tank from heating properly? Since I am not measuring directly on the bottom glass does this mean the temps are OK? Please let me know what you think. (I have about 1.5 -2 inches of sani chips as substrate). Thanks!
