Refused meal

"Serpent Science"
A couple hours ago I attempted feeding Jinta and he refused. I left the mouse in his cage for 2 hrs while I was gone and the mouse had only been moved an inch or two. His previous owners were feeding him one fuzzy every 7 days. Is this mouse too big for him? I was thinking that it's much more appropriate for his size. It's been 5 days since his last meal so I'm thinking he's just not hungry yet. Also, would it be better if I feed him at night rather than during the day with his light on?

Wait 3 days then try feeding him again. Was this the first attempt to feed him an adult mouse instead of a fuzzy?

sorry, didn't answer your question. Looks like he should be able to handle that mouse. the prey item should not be larger than 1.5 times the the width of the snake (at his largest part). Hope that made sense

Why the hurry? The snake will be non the worse for just skipping a meal. He looks in great shape. One small mouse a week and skipping every now and then is perfect. Gives him some exercise looking for his food.

Yeah I understand the 1.5 x rule and yes, this was the first attempt at feeding him anything larger than a fuzzy. Unfortunately my local pet store isn't carrying any feeders sized between fuzzies and the mouse you see pictured. I'll give it another go Monday or Tuesday. Thanks for the input...

No hurry at all. The pet store I work at says they've had him for almost 2 years. Being a bit short for 2 yrs old, I just want to be sure I keep him as healthy as he looks and be the best snake owner I can be.
