Treat it as a regurge. You need to get the snakes enclosure out of direct sunlight or you'll end up with a cooked snake. Good luck.

Yeah, I agree. Can't see a hungry snake changing his mind once he started chomping! If you've been feeding him every 4 days he'll do fine without for a couple weeks. Not suggesting you wait that long, just saying. Give it another go as you said at 10 days, and be sure there's somewhere for him to hide in his tank.

A hide won't help if the tank gets to 110*, which is very possible in direct sunlight. That tank has to be out of the sunlight.

get it out of the sun and get a digital thermometer for your tank so you can keep track of the temps. are you using a UTH with a Rheostat to keep the tank warm? my grey rat snake wont eat unless the temps are just right, my corns arent as picky, but i keep the temps as constant as possible. if they dont have the right body temp, they cant digest their meal. or they'll refuse to eat altogether.

ok well since he still just a lil guy i have him in a plastic container with holes drilled in the top and sides..he has aspen and a hide..i usually put him in another container to eat then back in his place..he likes to hide in the substrate..i will move him from where the sun comes in..i have a lil under tank heater designed for plastic enclosures..he doesnt seem to spend time there like he does on the other side under the bedding..should i not try to handle it for that time or would it be ok to handle him for a few minutes???
thanks for all the suggestions

I wouldn't but that's just me! My little Felix is having problems with regurges right now and I'm leaving him alone as much as possible. I don't want to bother him. After the ten days you might want to try just a pinkie head or at least the smallest pinkie you can find. You don't want another regurge :puke01: .

You may also want to get a thermomiter. Knowing your temps is important. Best of luck!

I have Guinness in a similar plastic container as you described. he's too tiny yet for a 10 gal. I'd lose him in there...and he's already attempted to escape the 10 gal. the screen lid has gaps that he can fit through.
I put a UTH thats made for plastic under the tub and then i got a digital thermometer with a probe. i just put the probe in the tub and snap the lid shut.
I toss a pinky in with him and leave him alone. I check on him everyday after he's eaten to make sure theres no regurge. great thing about the plastic tub is that it's clear. and he's on papertowels and his hides are old paper towel rolls so i just pick up the tub and i check on him without disturbing him. after the lump in his belly is gone and he's pooped, i wait a day, and then handle him for a bit. then i put him back in his tub and feed him again.

yeah i do the same i can see him in there..what temp do you keep his container?? ill have to get a thermometer..hes been hiding on the cooler side under the bedding..i sorta moved the bedding around today just to make sure he was still alive and he was..he has a little hamster hut turned upside down as a hide..i also put a smaller water dish ..i will try to feed him again on tuesday and we will see i take him out and feed him in another container..thanks again for the info ..:)

Coolsnakesky, my temps are 85 on the hot side and room temp (75) on the cold side. Your UTH may get to hot without a way to controle it (rheostat, lamp dimmer, etc.). Mine do anyway . When you get the thermomiter place the probe right on top of the UTH (inside tank) because that's the hottest place your snake can touch. Hope he gets better!

I'm new at this, too. But, I'm curious - when you removed the pink from the refrigerator, did you warm it up before offering it?

Good luck with your baby. :)

i keep mine around 85 as well over the UTH. i watch it closely, because it can get hot really quick in such a small space. and i would have a cooked snake. definitely get a rheostat, that will help control the temp of the UTH so it doesnt get too hot.

Muggle-i love your avatar. wish i could get a good close up pic of Guinness like that! i try to get close, but he shies away...the zoom lens freaks him out too.

Hunter has 3/4 swallowed a mouse, then spat it out a few times now. 1/2 the time he'll try again, the other 1/2 he decides not to eat. Treasure hasn't ever done this, if hes hungry, the mouse is gone hehe.

ok ..umm so much info..first muggle ill check temps ..and my moms name is Laura..yes kitty i warmed the pink up from the fridge in some warm water..i slit well my mom slit its back a little and he took it right away ..thats why i was surprised to see it lying there the next day..i havent handled him since mon last week ..i want to ..so ill try feeding him again tues.Whats a rheostat??mom and i should probly get a better enclosure..

oh my i put a reg thermometer on the floor of the closure and it reads over 106 degrees YIKES!!!! no wonder he wont go there..im going to try a folded wash cloth on top of the heater maybe it wont get so hot..i do that for my gecko and he is good with the temp..

a rheostat controls the temp of the UTH. you plug the UTH into the rheostat then plug the rheostat into the outlet.
there is usually a dial that has settings low to high or the temperature. you set the dial and the rheostat prevents the UTH from getting too hot.
