ok i have an around 10 month old corn who has never regurgitated :puke01: (yay) but i was wondering how would i ever know if he did? What dose it look like and how can i tell? Also i have heard people talking about a process that they go through after they regurgtate. What is it? Thanks if u can help.
 
Hi Krista. From what I hear, you will definitely know if your snake regurges. It is supposed to smell really bad and you will see the undigested meal. I heard you should wait 10 days until you attempt to feed again to give the snake's stomach time to settle down and then try again with a smaller meal. If it regurges again, another 10 days....
 
Yes...

Babbaloo is correct...it will smell VERRRRRRRRRY bad, we're not talking baby poopoo diaper or dumpster-filled-with-six month old-thanksgiving-leftovers bad, this odor is soooo awful that you may wind up regurgitating yourself. My snake actually regurgitated onto the palm of my hand! If your snake regurgitates you will smell it before you see it :) Hopefully, it won't ever happen.

I've had one regurge, but it didn't smell that bad surprisingly. It was only a pinky, and only partially digested. I'm still not sure what caused it, but she's never had another after that one. One of my friend's rattlesnakes regurged a stinky mess though.
 
My female ate two juvenile mice and took them right away, three days later I could smell this stank from the viv so I took a look, I thought my snake died and it smelled rotten. I took the top of and saw half digested mice, the smell is like rotting road kill its very unpleasant. It turned out that my female was pregnant and could not digest the mice.

When you do find the regurged mouse you have to clean out the viv and sanitize it.
 
Regurgitation

Regurgitation can happen from a number of causes.

The temps. in the cage may be inncorrect. I recomend a temp-gun, very useful, and accurate. temp-gun.com

The female may be gravid. As I think someone already mentioned..?

To large prey. If a snake is suppose to be on small pinks, and you give it a fuzzie, it will most likely eat it. But It will also most likely regurgitate it because It is so large and cannot go through all the stages of digestion.

But often, it may be stress.

Or parasites. If non of the above helps (Checking temps, prey size and stress) you may want to check for parasites. A regurge is not very good for a snake, and several regurges in a row a serious health risk..

However, that wasn't really krista2121 question...
 
not only does waiting help the stomach settle, but it also builds the snakes stomach acids back up so that it can digest probably. I think about 10 days is ok, but it might be safer to wait a little longer just to be sure there are no problems. (about 2 weeks)
 
I only ever had 1 regurg, and that was the first feeding after a puchased her. I fed 5 days after and had no problems ever since. 2 weeks sounds like a lot to me. Why wait 2 weeks when 5/7 days will suffice? Are there people that have experience with 5/7 days beeing to quickly?
