amo i miei serpenti
sorry i didn't know it'd be so light colored. but yes i quarantined her for 3 months before putting them together in the tank.

i'm slightly new to the cornsnake caring thing. my brother rescues reptiles and snakes from people who don't want them anymore and i fell in love with Kala and Polo.

i got Polo first. he's an amelanistic male and he's 4 feet 3 inches long. we have no idea how old he is but from what i've read i'd have to say at least 3 years. i had him by himself for the longest time. probably roughly 6 or 7 months...and then i saw Kala. she's a black cornsnake. i thought at first she was a charcoal but when i took her to see the reptile vet we have here... he said she was a black cornsnake and rhymed off a latin word that i don't remember. anyways...polo took a good liking to Kala and they now share a tank. Polo recently shed...maybe 2 weeks ago. and now that Kala is getting ready to shed, Polo looks like he's getting ready to shed all over again. is this normal or should i seperate them while she's shedding?

any information you could give me would be a great help. thanks!

You're saying "maybe two weeks ago" for Polo's last shed. I keep accurate records for all my snakes regarding sheds, feeding, problems etc. That way I can identify a potential problem. For an adult corn, the shedding process will take about 2 weeks from the point when you first notice the snake looking a little dull, so there may be no need for alarm. Some of my adults still shed on a monthly basis, but the norm is more like 6-7 weeks. If you feed your snakes weekly and follow good husbandry, they will shed more frequently, from my experience.

well i do feed him every tuesday and his shed was 17 days ago. i mark them on my calendar. polo usually sheds every 8 or 9 weeks. this will be the first time Kala has shed since i got her 4 months ago though. so i'm just worried if its like polo is shedding again or if its just i dunno, that he's turning a bit cloudy cause kala is doing the same and he doesn't want her to feel alone or something. :shrugs:

That's good that you mark the dates of the sheds down. I still don't think you have a problem at this point. I was looking through my records and found a snake(approx 2yr old) that had sheds only 20 days apart twice in a row. Obviously a growing spurt. Keep us updated

i will thanks. oh... and i had him checked for mites just incase and he has none that we could find.
