Repti Therm UTH

Anyone familiar with this brand of UTH ?.It is a 24 WATT, and sized for a 30 to 40 gal.tank.What would be a good thermostat to use with it ?.

Any of these would be fine... except maybe the Zoo-med one. Of course you could, but since it's cheap it could break on you and you'd need a new one.

Just remember, unless you're a Do-It-Yourself kind of person, do not order any thermostat "raw." For example, the Ranco and Johnson thermostats on there. You can buy the raw ($54), receptacle end (for only one cage, $74), with powerstrip (for more than one cage, also $74), and the dual setup ($120 I think?). Get either the receptacle end or the powerstrip version, unless you're prepared to wire the thermostat yourself.

I think all the other thermostats are between $100-300, except the Zoo-Med which is like $25-30.

Zoo Med makes the Repti Therm.PERFECT..The way I'm going here,I'll be bringing every thing BACK.

Are you having problems with the zoomed pad? They are a good pad but have their downfalls. They tend to develop hot spots and once stuck you usually cannot remove the without damaging the element inside.

I can't say I have had a problem with it yet,,I haven't even used it yet.I'm just getting all my stuff together before I get my snake.I just don't want to use anything that might not work that well. The one I got is a 24 watt,,is that kind of high a 30 gal.?.

You should be fine with that pad, I would recommend flexwatt but since you already have that one I go for it. The wattage is fine as long as you have a themrostat..

I have some Zoo Med UTHs on a couple of my tanks and have never had a problem with them. That being said, they are not my preferred brand, but they work. Any brand you get will have to have something to regulate the temps, so that is not a factor here.

There's nothing wrong with the Zoo Med thermostats either. I have 3 of them going for over 8 months now, with Zoo Med UTH's. They can ge had for as low as $23 online. Just stay away from the ESU "round top" cheap thermostat, as those have been known to break and leave the UTH on full blast.
