I am looking for Reptile Carpet for my viv. It is a 40 Gal breeder that is 36"x18" and is spilt down the middle for my 2 corns. The sides are 18x18 each. Anyone know where I can get this stuff for a good deal? Thanks, Matt
i highly reccomend aspen, i was gunna get the carpet, but aspen is abotu 100 percent better and cheap as hell and comes with a big load, the bag looks small but that stuff is packed with it , it is so hard to get out.
I would use the aspen or Repti bark also. I had just the carpet for a little bit and it was a pain to clean. Now I just use it on the bottom with Repti bark on top. That way if they were to burrow they couldn't get directly on the the glass above UTH.
The carpet/astroturf type of liners have a couple of problems...
They are a magnet for bacteria...and hard to clean well...they hold moisture after being cleaned, so the bacteria cycle starts all over again...
Also...some of the types with "looped" threads can unravel and allow your snake to get ensnared and possibly injure itself...
You are actually better off with newpaper...
I (and I KNOW I am not alone) prefer aspen.
It is very easy to clean...has no odor...clumps well when soiled...and is good for snakes that tend to like to burrow.
Great stuff...and, like celbii said...a little goes a LONG way.
I have been able to fill 2 40gal, and 3 20gal tanks with one of the little bags.
I get mine bulk at Lowes or Home Depot. Get enough for 2 or 3 sets. Heat set edges so they don't unravel. You can wash in washer with bleach and air dry or hang dry. I've used for over a year never a problem. Easy to switch when you see it is soiled because there is always a clean one ready. I have enough for 3 to fit a 40L, 4 to fit 10gal and 3 to fit a 55gal al for under $10.
