Kudos for the rescue. Hope the recovery from the surgery goes well
Wow, thank you so much for coming here and seeking help. You are an awesome person for saving these poor snakes! PLEASE make sure that where those tanks are outside, NO sunlight hits them at any point during the day. Glass cages outdoors are risky. I wish you the best, good things deserve to happen to folks like you.![]()
Thank you.
I checked the sun light thing a few times while we were doing it. There are a bunch of trees that cut out the light, and I also checked the rain line on the porch's roof a few time. When we got there today they didn't feel hot, and there wasn't any excess (rain) water in the tanks.
Update:
We went out today again to move the snakes from his porch to move them to my garage. The maximum temperature I measured was 84, and I'll employ fans if it gets any hotter. I have a probe thermometer to monitor temperatures. They were all active; one shed, one pooped. I didn't record which one did what because I didn't want to be dinner for the swarm of mosquitoes near the porch.
My uncle agreed he needed assisted living when we talked to him earlier this week and that he couldn't go back to that house. We're happy with that. He also confirmed there were only three snakes. But while he basically agree he wouldn't go back to the house, he didn't mention any sort of care for the snakes.
Each snake has a plastic tub, floor space is about the size of a ten gallon aquarium. Fresh water, aspen. I cut cereal boxes for hides, but I also gave plenty of aspen because they'll probably burrow.
Also thanks for the identification Nanci and strikerratt.
