I recently bought a new heating pad. I had been nervous to use a human heating pad because of fire concerns but the other week I purchased a SunBeam Heating Pad for use with humans. Right now I am using it for my Ball Python. I am very impressed so far!!!
The heating pad came with a "envelop"/special bag you place it inside, right now the pad is on a wood shelf, half way under a rubbermaid tub. It has brought the temp up to a steady 31 (87.8F) on the warm side, on the LOW setting.
I turn it off for twelve hours per day, and on again for twelve and so far (couple weeks) I am really pleased! Although I am certainly checking it almost 12 times a day to make sure no fire starts or no burn damage. But os far, neither.

P.S. I know there is a lot of people who say human pads are fire starters but I got a lot of advice online form other keepers and decided to try out my first human pad. Although I *DO* think I will continue to use heat tape/lights primarily.
