No, they normally have red eyes. Usually they become blue in color but if you missed the blue stage (it's easy to do on the small amels) then he will clear then shed. He might be in the clear phase before shed.
 
Glock,,how big is your snake ??,,good size I'm guessing,because you said you were going to offer him a full size mouse on his next feeding.
It is definitely easier to see the signs of a shed comming,,with an older,larger snake.My amels eyes get a almost light violet color to them.
