ok so it seems like felix guards my room when im not home. i came home last night i opend the door and there she is staring right at me. she takes one look and slithers back in her house. my mom told me that when she goes in my room she can see felix just STARING at her rattling her tail. it freaks my mom out so much she leaves the room! :grin01: :grin01: :grin01:

To me thats just so cute! :D I wouldnt mind having a gaurd nake than a gaurd dog....mines not very good at it. :p

I'm going to try the whole speaking to snake thing before taking him out. lol, he's about to shed yipee!
 
In actual fact snakes probably ARE a good "guard", of sorts. How many burglars do you think would be detered by the prescence of a snake?

I've heard stories about houses being broken in to again and again (the same house) and the owners tried everything; burglars alarms, big dogs, the works, but they still got broken in to. They bought a tarantula and put it in the window and the guy never came back :grin01: I think snakes could have the same influence!
 
Guard snakes

They work wonders on door to door solicitors as well. A few years back I had a few snakes (will be again soon, once retire from military and can settle down somewhere). I had a ball python, a pair of rainbow boas and an 8 foot burmese python. My roommate also had a couple of snakes. We had a sign near the front door warning people that there were pet snakes inside and to steer clear if it bothered them. It was mainly there so that friends would not be surprised when they came in and there were snakes there. What we noticed was that the solicitors didn't bother us after we put the sign up. The only ones we had were the Jahovah's Witnesses, which I guess were more determined. My roommate answered the door with slither (the burmese) around his neck and from that day on, NOBODY came to the house unless they were friends...so they do work. :roflmao: Just my two cents.

My little corn tends to sleep, and when i get him out to show people, they just call him sweet!

i think it only works if they are venomous.
 
Wouldn't work for me, if I was a burgler I would steal the snake lol. But they probably can detter people, especially if they are quite big.

I'd have to disagree. I've held a hatchling corn before and had people actually run right out the room :shrugs:
 
a man i used to work for had his house broken into. the burglar didn't realise he had two huge retics in a specially set-up room of their own.my boss heard a scream and went to investigate,he found the burglar frozen on the spot with his torch pointing at these two huge pythons who were flicking their tongues as if he was dinner! :grin01: he was still in that spot when he was arrested! :grin01:
 
My Miami is like that, he lefts up his head anyone comes in =) That's so cute Felix does that. I would do that too if something big came in suddenly. Haha!
