No real rules... if they're about to shed they'll be reclusive and grumpy, and usually refuse food though not always. Most will hold off on feeding until after the shed if they know they're about to. It wont hurt if you do. And you can still handle, but don't expect the snake to like it at all, which is why most leave them alone. Other than that, nothing really special other than their pretty new skin afterwards.
