safe wood to use to buld a stand?

my plan is to build a stand to hold both my snakes viv's.

i was wondering if it'd be safe to just use this spair wood my brother in law has kicking around...they are pallets consisting of 2x4's and 1x6's i believe.

i guess my basic question would be does it matter what wood i use for the stand?

It does not matter what kind of wood you use for a stand. I would just clean/sand the wood from the pallets, in order to be sure they are free of pests and intact enough to support the vivs.
