:flames: Hi does anybody no if it is ok 2 use sand for asubstrate insted of bark? jus wonderin.

Hi Casper,
Sand isn't a good choice for corns because it is relatively dry and can be irritating under their scales. Aspen or coconut fibre are much better choices.

:wavey: Welcome to the forums!!!
Like Daisy said, sand can irritate scales...It can also get into noses and mouths..and just about everywhere else :eek1: (think about all the places you find sand when you get home from the beach...) A wood substrate is a better choice (aspen, birch, etc.) Stay away from aromatic wood like pine or cedar..the oils can be toxic.

Like a_mc said, aspen is a good choice. Most people here would chose aspen than anything else as a substrate. Other beddings commonly used are news paper and paper towels. If useing anything other than news paper or paper towels, feed in a different container to prevent the snake from eating the bedding causing problems. Some people are against feeding in cage but some are not. I feed in the cage only if I use paper for a substrate. I use eco earth and bed-a-beast as a substrate for a couple animals in display cages. For my tubs I use paper towels. Easy to change and cheap.
