Sani-Chips vs Shredded Aspen

Do the sani-chips get stuck to carpet and things like shredded aspen?

Looking to order and I wondered if I should try them. It seems they might be a little "flighty" if that makes sense? I've not seen them in person.

Easier to clean or anything? I know they are a little more expensive.

Thanks!

I love sanichips for baby snakes. For larger snakes I like shredded aspen more, but maybe if they had a larger size I would like them. They're both messy if they get out of the cage, but sanichips are probably a little cleaner.

Thanks Damon.

With that advice, I think I'll order aspen. It almost seems like the sani chips would take more to make a deeper base. That's just what it seems like from the pics. The aspen can be kind of fluffed a little.

That's all I need :)

I LOVE Sani chips! It is all I will ever use. It clumps like cat litter, looks a lot like sand, and if it does fall on the carpet, the square shapes don't get STUCK in the carpet - it vacuums right up.

Knox, do you have any problems with not being able to bed the chips deep enough? Hunter is on dehydrated coconut bark, and depending what that looks like I may or may not switch him to Sani-Chips. The smallness of the chips just gives the impression that it would take a lot of sani-chips to get a deep base.

I like the way sanichips look, but my adults like to burrow under the shredded aspen, which I found they couldnt do as well with the chips.

It comes in a large bag, so getting a deep base is not a problem. Plus, since it is a breeze to spot clean, there is very little waste so it lasts quite a while. I only use about 3/4 of an inch as my base, though.

Sani Chips are the way to go when it comes to cleaning, Nothing better when it clumps together for easy cleaning, best of all it molds slower then the aspen

hmmm..maybe I should try it. I like my bedding thick as well and I had the same question as Charlotte.

My snakes are usually found under the aspen somewhere. They don't even stay in their hides, they like being in the bedding. It does look easy to clean though

Thanks for sharing the video, love how this stuff clumps and will be looking into getting some.

I've considered putting sanichips on the bottom with shredded aspen top of it. That would keep the cage very clean I think. Haven't tried it though. It's really good at sucking up all the moisture after they defecate, seems like it doesn't even smell. Of course, I did have someone come to my house recently and say "hey, smells like you have reptiles." So maybe I'm just fooling myself.

I only used it briefly on adults though, it didn't seem as nice for them. I might try it again some time.
