I picked up this pair this weekend; its a species I've always have been interested in. They are awesome snakes, their temprement is so dependent on their individual personalities; and not much beats those eyes.
Thanks! For names I'm thinking of Marduk for the male and Tiamat for the female. The male (as you can see from the pictures) isnt afraid to show that he doesnt want to be looked at; the female though would prefer to hide in an uncomfortible situation.
This species was first found in 1993 and have the smallest natural distribution of any python species, being limited to the small island of Sawu off of New Guinea. Their wild population is threatened due to being heavily imported which has been largely restricted now. As hatchlings they start out as a nice burnt orange color, and as they grow they gain more and more freckles and dark spots, with some adults being nearly solid black (with those white eyes). They average 4-6 feet and are slendered bodied, kind of like children's or spotted pythons. Their usually around $70+ for a hatchling.
The closest thing to that I probably have is a female retic names Mania, after the Roman goddess, and a boa named Sphinx; everything else is either demonic, Native American, Mesopitamian, Celtic, Latin, and even a few named after actual star names.
