So I read here on the forum that there IS a way to tell if your snake is asleep. Apparently the pupils droop down and slightly forward, making it look cross-eyed. If you wiggle your finger in front of its eyes, they should jerk upward as a defensive response. So my ultramel girl Paisley came out at night and I noticed she had been "resting" in the same spot for awhile. I wanted to test out my knew knowledge and she if she was asleep. As I came right up to her, I noticed her eyes were, indeed, drooping down and somewhat cross-eyed. So, I wiggled my finger in front of her. And I felt SO GUILTY as she jerked herself backward. The poor girl was definitely asleep. It was interesting, because from now on I will know by looking at her if she is asleep, but I will never do that again.
