Scented candles and incense?

How sensitive are snakes to these things? Will burning them in the same room make my snake upset/stressed, or worse, sick? I live in a studio apartment, so it's basically the one room and then a short hall to the bathroom, so just burning them in a separate room isn't really feasible. (Obviously not burning them AT ALL is, if it turns out to be a problem.) I wouldn't burn them near his viv... Basically on the opposite side of the room.

Anyone have experience with this? I like the smells but obviously Fido's health and happiness are more important.

I personally wouldn't, as I've heard air freshening sprays, bug sprays, perfumes, body sprays etc, can all affect their respiratory systems. Don't forget corn snakes only have one working lung, so I would rather be safe than sorry.
