Inform them when they are young, I'm sure some of their parents have taught them that snakes are nasty creatures that attack humans for no reason.

Sadly yes, many parents do teach their kids the wrong things but i enjoy when a class is interested and understanding and get to see the nicer side of snakes.
That's awesome that you can do that. We tried to do that at my daughter's school, but they wouldn't let us. Something about being permitted by the NH Fish & Game Dept. and some other hoops we would have to jump through. I think the principal is just afraid of snakes.
