a few days ago a was reading various website's info on corns - i think i was on wikipedia and they said - - " corn snakes need water daily but few owners will ever see the snake drink - later that same night, then again last night as i returned him to the tankk i swung his head by the water dish where he readily took in water 5- 15 seconds - was wondering??? had he found it previously?? it is a normal small low shallow dish - any opinions?????

The only time I catch mine drinking is after I return them to their viv after feeding. It's cute though watching them.

I'm sure your snake knows where his water dish is. They are nocturnal and are out exploring very late at night into the wee hours of the morning.

I've seen J.R drinking a couple times on her own, and yes she will readily drink if you put her head near water. Don't worry they know where the water is, and if they don't they will search it out, high and low. I think it is pretty cute when they do it too, their cheeks expand and it is just adorable.

I see mine drinking every once in a while. Usually right after they have eaten and I have washed and refilled their bowls.

I love watching Lily drink. Only seen her do it a few times, but it's one of my favorite things to see.

If I catch them drinking it is also after feeding when they go back into thier tub. Seems to be a pattern for some snakes to drink then from what I have just read from the other posters.

I woke up one time in the middle of the night and two of my vivs are next to my bed. I had left my nightstand lamp on, so I could see pretty well and I look over at the top tank and one of my hatchlings was staring at me, then resumed drinking, then went about his merry way. It was pretty epic. :}

Yep, mine almost always drink after they eat...and when a fresh new clean full bowl of water goes in the viv. Or even when they are getting rinsed-off/wetted-down in the sink for whatever reason.

But....sometimes, it IS almost as if they are just discovering their same old bowl, for the first time ever. LOL.

I'd agree with that, since mine usually drink after a meal too - or after being out of their tub for a little while. I've seen Scout (my corn) drinking a few times, and it's too cute for words! :)

I often dangle my corns near the water when returning them to their tanks and they often have a quick drink pretty common for me..
