So I've taken the advice of many people on here and now move each of my snakes to their own feeding enclosure when it's food time (all snakes have their own feed box). But then people have said not to handle your snake 24-48 hours after feeding them. So does that mean you all leave your snakes in the feed box (let's call it 'box B') for 2 days then put them back in their regular viv (let's call this 'box A')? Because that would mean for my little ones that they basically spend half their time in box A and half in box B, and box B ain't so nice!

Anyway, I'm sure with that question I've revealed how much of an idiot I am, but I don't want to cause regurges or anything just because I prefer them to be in their pretty vivs.

Someone want to give me an idiot's guide to this? With small words? :shrugs:
 
Nah, you can put them back as soon as they're done. What is meant by "handling" is a "handling session". A snake wants, and typically needs, a "rest period" after eating to digest. (much like us after Thanksgiving!!!!! Try playing a game of football AFTER the meal! :puke01: )
You don't want to cause the stress of a handling session too soon after a meal. :)

I usually wait about 15 minutes and then put them back.
 
Cheers guys, and thankyou for not mocking the daft question. I was mainly wondering about it as I do move them back when they're done, but obviously they are pretty strike happy at that time (Ooooo, a finger shaped pinkie! I wonder how it tastes?). Maybe I'll just leave them an extra 20 mins or something.
 
I lift the adults and put them back in. I just wash my hands so they don't smell like rat and have never had one strike at me. For the smaller ones, I just put their feed container in their viv and let them come out on their own.
 
I put the feed box back into the tank and let the snake crawl out when he is ready. Less stress on everybody that way.
 
I sometimes help the little ones out with a hook, if I'm in a hurry, usually I also just let them slither out on their own :cheers:
 
I usually tip over the feeding box and let them slide out of it into their vivs. Once they realize they are moving, they start to climb down.
 
For my small snake I tip him out of his feeding dish into his viv, for my larger snake I pick him up gently and place him in his.
