I have taken the advice given to me on here and decided to seperate my corns. I have a new viv being delivered tomorrow but will it be ok to put my faunarium inside the viv for now,that way they will be seperate or will they get freaked out. Also is shredded paper ok for a substrate, i think it is but just want to check.
 
Shredded paper is probably an OK substrate.... You could just as easily use paper towels, newspaper, or shredded aspen.

Kudos on separating the snakes; they'll each be much happier without the other snake. I don't understand your question, though... They shouldn't be "freaked out" by suddenly being separated; they're solitary creatures, so they don't develop enough of a bond to care about where the other went. Move one to the new viv, and leave the other in the original viv (I assume this is the Faunarium?). You don't have to keep the Faunarium in the new viv to make the moved snake feel comfortable or anything.

Just a little extra tidbit: if the new viv is bigger, move the bigger/braver snake into it and leave the smaller/shyer snake in the old one.

Thanks Floof, I was going to move the bigger snake into the new viv but i was going to put the Faunarium into the new viv as well until i can buy more uth`s etc.
 
If the new viv isn't heated, putting the Faunarium in it won't help a whole lot. If your room doesn't get below about 70*F, the new viv should be okay with no heat until you get it. Just don't feed the snake that gets moved until the new viv has heat. If you're worried about heat, you may be better off leaving them together in the Faunarium until you can get heat on the new viv.

Come to think of it, putting the Faunarium in the new viv may be a burn risk. Even if you have a thermostat (which you should), the heat pad itself is going to be hotter than the inside of the Faunarium where it touches. If the snake gets under it, you risk it getting burned... Again, considering this, you're better leaving the new viv unheated or leaving them together (depending on your room's ambient temps).

Separating older Corns that have been together for a long time can indeed be very stressful for them, but this isn't about an emotional bond, it's about behavioural adaptation.

They develop a specific set of behaviours to deal with being in close proximity with each other, and suddenly having to change those behaviours to live alone can be difficult. Some Corns are creatures of habit and don't adapt well to any kind of change. I had one go on hunger strike for months after his long-term cagemate died.

They don't "care" where the other one went - they just know that they used to have to live a certain way, and now they have to change what they do and how they do it.

However in Remmy's situation the Corns have been together for a very short time and I don't foresee any problems.
