I was going through pictures today and thought I'd upload some of our finds from September. My husband bowhunts, so we take walks through the woods often. It is fun, but even better when we find snakes or frogs! My son is always on the lookout for frogs and toads, and all the kids are keeping their eyes open for snakes.
The green frog was caught by our lake and kept for a little while and then released. My son took the picture of it in a plastic container. It was pretty big!
The little garter was found while walking to a deer stand, under a log. We had actually seen a bigger garter by the log so we were searching for it, and found this tiny little one! I held it and then put it back.
The picture of the tiny garter in my daughter's hand was actually given to us by a snake-fearing neighbor! They brought it over in a little plastic cup with a lid and we released it across the lake.
The tiger salamander was found on a highway during a rainy/misty morning. We had been told that they cross in droves during a rain in the fall, so we went out there one school morning to find some. We saved this guy from nearly being smashed! My son named him Patrick the Brave.
