setting up your enclosure....help???

hello i have two corn snakes and i was wondering how to set up a 20 gallon tank for them... i have a warm side and a cool side... i also have two hides on both sides and i have sticks and plants for them to climb on with a water bowl too. is this all i need???? i was thinking of putting one of my corns in a 55 gallon so it has more room to move around as my biggest one is longer than a 20 gallon long and seems to be growing very slow.... so the bigger the cage the bigger the snake right? well anywho can people post pics of their aquarium set up??? i need ideas for a good set up... thanks!!!!!

There are better ones out there but here's mine:

Your general setup sounds good for one animal. Definitely put them in separate enclosures. There are many threads here about "cohabitating" and why not to do it.
Also, the size of the cage does not limit the size of the snake. If fed properly they will keep growing to whatever their individual length will be.

Can anyone post the "show us your viv" thread? I've been searching for it, but can't find it. You're bound to get some good ideas from there.

That's exactly it, Thanks, Susielea!

rosehairboy, good luck with your setup, and then be sure to add a photo to the thread susielea posted! ;)

As soon as you can afford a second vivarium, get one. Keep each snake separate, and until you can get that second viv, make sure you feed them separately.

You're running all sorts of risks, such as possible cannibalism, mating (depending on the age of the snakes), etc, by having two cornsnakes in one Vivarium.

wait a minute, i dont have them together!! haha i have them both in 20 gallon long aquariums... sorry for the confusion... i would never put them together for the reason one is twice the size of the other.. and more aggressive too! the only thing i dont like about my enclosure is i am using repticarpet for both of them... what is the best substrate to use? i heard pine and aspen are bad for them... any input? when i get new substrate i will definitely post up pictures...thanks for the help and all of those enclosures are really nice!!!!!

Glad to hear you're not co-habbing! Your post was a little confusing, so thanks for clearing that up.

Pine and CEDAR are bad for reptiles (and rodents, too!) but Aspen is fine.

Can't wait to see your new set-ups!
