sexing a corn

What is the accuracy of determining the corn snake's gender by the look of it's tail. My corn is 14" long and it's tail is about 2.5", making me think that it is a male.

thanks

hmm

it sounds like it would be a male but the tail is not always the best way to sex a snake. i would suggest that you get the snake probed by vet or other qualified person. just my $0.02. hope this helps.

It's not really how long the tail is that gives it away but how it tapers. Males' tails are usually the same width for a while and then taper down but females' taper very quickly from the very start. It's not a very reliable way unless you've had years of experience.
