Sexing fuzzie mice

Can anyone offer tips on how to sex fuzzie mice at an early age. Or maybe even right before they hit the early hopper stage. Maybe someone could post some pics.

I cant post pics... my camera wont do that much of a close up but... you can usually tell the girls because if you look you can see the little ummm nipples

If they are hopper size and you watch very closely, the little boys will show you the goods. If you try to pick them up however they suck them up:crazy02:. I agree with cat the girls have nipples, but sometimes even thhose are difficult to see. Yet another way girl parts are close together boys are far apart. I always wonder compared to what, each other I guess but who has four hands to hold two three mice at one time to figure it out.

You can look for the nipples, those are a dead giveaway. They are perfect to spot at this age, when they get more fur its much harder to tell. Also, the girl "bits" are closer together than boy "bits". When you pick up the males they suck them in, but if you push on their belly area, sometimes they pop back out.

I go by the nipples. If I'm going to save a male from a litter I tend to cull out all the known girls as soon as I can see the nipples because once the fur grows more I can't tell the sex as easily, or vice versa if I want girls to set up a new trio

This method works great !! Why in the world didn't I think of that ? So, obvious didn't even think about it.
