Thanks for the info, Mike! What are average litter sizes? Surely two pups isn't a normal sized litter is it?

I guess I'll stick with the lab mice. Just thought of it as an interesting alternative to the norm. There are a few stubborn feeders around here (not corns).

I still want to start at least one pygmy mouse colony. I have just not had the time or money to go get some.

From what I've read, they can have up to six per litter and around 12 litters per year. What puzzles me, is their gestation period is 36-42 days. I only had mine for 18 days! The males were in one tank and the females in another at the pet shop. Obviously there was an error in sexing of one or more of the mice. The babies are able to walk and run around at 3 days old and breed at six weeks. I got these out of frustration. Wanted to see if I could get anything to breed! These are obviously not going to be a food source for hatchlings, but the pups are nice sized for yearlings. :cheers:
