My corn just shed since I have had her for the first time. She started blueing on Friday (ate on Sunday) and cleared on Monday. I was expecting her to have shed today at the latest and she did. I was holding her for the first time and there was a secretion about 2 inches down from her head and it looked like it came out from between her scales. It was yellow and looked oily. I touched it with my finger but it was gone so fast I didnt have much time to get a picture or learn much more about it other than a vague description. I actually hadn't found the shed yet and didn't know she had shed until I found it. My theory before finding the shed was that oil escaped between her old skin and her new skin but now I am a little confused. Any ideas? (eyecaps and tip of tail Were on the shed) :dancer:
 
Milky ....

My understanding of when snakes shed is that there is a small amount of fluid secreted between the two skins. This is the origin of the milky appearance that they get when preparing to shed.

It sounds like what you found may have been related to this, though I've never heard of it happening like how you've described. At this point, just keep your eyes open, and see if it happens again.

Thanks. I held her tonight but I didnt see anything. She really looks and feels different in her new skin. Ill have to add pics to my other thread. The yellow drop was clear. strange. :eatpointe
