Some info: Don't listen to people who don't know what they are talking about.
Blue lasts 5-6 days, then snake will then clear, and shedding will follow within a couple of days. The entire process lasts on average 7-10 days.
To help, you can add a humid hide or mist the tank a couple of times a day. Leave him alone until he is done shedding, and don't worry if you don't see him. Some snakes make strange noises when in shed, so if you hear them, they're nothing to worry about unless they are accompanied by a nasal discharge or continue after the snake has shed.
Good luck with him.

My snakes skin starts to look a bit weird- kind of dull and "filmy" before he goes into blue. Once he is in blue, that lasts around 3-4 days, maybe 5. Then he clears and the shed always occurs within 36-48 hours of clearing.
I keep a humid hide in his tank at all times, and he seems to enjoy it most days. But when he is in blue, he never leaves it. So I'd reccomend using one. I used an old margarine tub, and cut a hole in the lid just wider than he.

Lucy had a pinkie on Oct. 25th and went into her warm hide to digest. Typically she'd reappear in a day or two, but she continued to be a no show. I suspected she was going into blue. Sunday I was getting nervous, so I lifted up her hide and sure enough she was curled up in the corner and gave me the "WTF mom!" look.
Couldn't tell if she was in the blue phase or dull or not. I was just happy she was still alive, so I let her be.
She continued to be a no show and yesterday I pulled her out to see if she was interested in food. I probably should of just left her alone, but she gulped the pinkie down with gusto. She was very dull looking, so I'm guessing she already had her blue phase and will hopefully shed in a day or two.

Should I feed mine while in this shedding phase? I gave him two pinkies the otherday and now he is going into the blue phase.

i feed my snakes(except my BP, she does not eat at all during her shed cycle) after their eyes are no longer blue, they eat down their meal just fine.

As for feeding in shed, some snakes will eat in shed, others won't. All I can suggest is to try it and see. Oh, and some snakes will regurge when fed in shed, so that is something to watch for.

My snakes rarely skip a feeding, but I can almost always tell they are due to shed when they only want one mouse instead of two. If a snake is noticeably blue, I offer them one mouse and leave it at that. It's rare for them to not eat at all.Mauser KAR98K said:
I hadn't realized my adult creamsicle male was going into shed until I had purchased his biweekly three mice last weekend. He ate one, I put the other two in a cage with food and water. He finished shedding last night, so I offered the other two mice this afternoon. He ate the rest of his meal, like he always does. I'm lucky I guess; almost everybody has a hearty appetite.

Arggh!!! Lucy still hasn't shed! She's still hiding out in her warm hide. I use a flashlight to peek in on her and I can see her breathing and sometimes she shifts so I know she's alive. She looks so dull. It can't be comfortable.
I found poop on Saturday from her November 1st meal.
Why is it taking so long? Does she just not want to give up her old skin? :shrugs: Is it normal for her to be in shed for 12+ days?

last night, I heard a noise coming form the tank, and was not certain what it was. I should have looked, but since it stopped, I went back to bed. But there was no shed skin this morning. My assumption is my blizzard (who is constantly exploring) was trying to lift the lid off the tank. My three clips per tank turned out to be a good investment after all...

Try misting the tank a few times a day for added humidity, or add a shedding box to help her feel more secure, while increasing the humidity level.
And try not to check in on her as much. If she is frightened, she may not feel comfortable enough to come out and shed.

I have been misting daily. Humidity is around 70%. When I peek with a flashlight, it's through the glass. I haven't been opening the lid and lifting her hide everytime.
However, I did take her out Monday night and she acted like her usual self, calmly weaving between my fingers. She is so dull in color. I miss her brightness. I took the opportunity to make sure she didn't have mites or any burns or just to see if there was anything that might keep her from shedding.
Upon putting her back in her tank, she took a long drink with her tail still firmly wrapped around my fingers. :grin01:
I gently got her to let go, she cruised around the tank for a bit, then burrowed under the aspen and once again I haven't seen her since.
I'll make her shed box, however since she appears fine, I guess she'll just shed when she wants. It'll be my first snake shed, so I'm trying not to freak out... obviously that approach isn't working. :crazy02: :shrugs: Guess we can't rush these things.

So we decided to see if she'd be interested in eating tonight and were astonished to find her out and about.
I scooped her out, put her in her feed bin with the pinkie which she ravenously took. I noticed she looked pretty bright, turned back to her viv to find a nice long shed!!! :cheers: :dancer:
The shed is perfect! A full complete shed with eye caps and tail tip. I cannot express how happy I am. :crazy02: :grin01:
