KELLEGG shed afew days ago,at the time i noticed that the last inch of her tail hadnt shed,i have just fed her and it is still the same, should i be worried and what can i do.

After waiting two day to degest her food. I would let her crawl through a warm damp towel while you holding it and her and gently rub the shed off. You might have to do this a few times.

Since you won't be doing this for a day or two you might want to increase the humidity in the tank or add a moist paper towel to it's favorite hiding spot for a couple of days. That may be enough to do the trick. If it doesn't, I'd first suggest putting it a tub with a damp towel or something to that effect for about 20 minutes. This way the skin has time to moisten up before you try using the towel in the hand and may come off on its own during this time. When you use the towel in your hand don't scub it. Just use the towel like a glove and let it slither through your hand while giving it a gentle amount of pressure (gentle). After a few minutes the skin should peel off in the towel. I had to do this to my butter stripe boy a few days ago and it worked like a charm. Hope that helps. :)

My amel is in shed to its been about 2 days how long does it usally take to come off. So i know when i should try try the wet paper towel trick.

is this a terrible plan?
put the snake in a box in the viv for about 5 mins just like when you feed them and put a small dish of boiling water in the tank and let the steam increase the humidity. Its never been mentioned before as far as I can see.

What do people think?

it works

well i tried using a paper towel soaked in warm water, the the snake slide through it untill the last inch was in there and gently held it for about 10sec and let her slide out.the skin had lifted so i let her slide between my fingers and 90% of the shed came off.just the very tip was left.repeated the warm wet towel 2 more times and as i let her slide out the tip was left behind.thanks for the advise.

I wouldnt put anything boiling in the viv while the snake is in there. I know what you are describing, but I would make sure the snake is out of the viv altogther. I'm sure there's better ways to raise humidity. People suggest putting additional water sources in there. There are also sprays for misting. Everything I've read about water and snakes is room temperature is the hottest they should come in contact with. I know you werent suggesting the snake have access to the boiling water.

Others may have better ideas for you.
