shedding advice

My 6 month old snake's eyes turned miky last week. They cleared 4 days ago and he has not shed yet. He usually sheds 2 days after clearing. He also looks very shiny which he doesn't usually. Is this normal?

He looks shiny as in freshly shed? Is it possible for you to have missed it or have you searched his enclosure?

Some people say they have had snakes eat sheds. :shrugs:

If you don't see any signs of dry skin or bits of skin hanging off of him then you are probably in the clear. He might be taking longer to shed this time. I, personally, haven't had a snake go that long after clearing without shedding, but my experience isn't as long as others.

You might want to bring up the hum. in the viv and see if that helps and make a humid hide with moss or just paper towls, you can also buy ZooMeds Repti-Shedding Aid. My corn was having the same problem and I did the moist hide thing and started bringing up the hum. inside and the next morning he was done shedding. Oh make sure you have things in the viv that yur corn can rub against; branches, or that half-log hide, that works great because of the top part of it. Good luck

I'm with Lenny. This guy will shed tonight or tomorrow, and your worries will be over. :)

With proper enclosure humidity, a healthy snake will shed without any aids, special hides, or almost anything else for that matter. I've had numerous instances where my snakes have perfectly shed in a bone-dry, completely smooth, un-lined plastic feeding tub. The majority of sheds I see are contained completely in the aspen, and are not even wrapped around a water bowl or hide.
