and these pics are of him in his new skin!!

p.s the cardboard tube you may see in some pics is to stop him from laying on the probe. long story but he was laying on it and making the probe read a lower temp than the viv was at.

enjoy his new skin!!

thanks for the comments guys. i really enjoyed watching him shed it was completely different from what i expected it to be like. also he loved the camera today and didn't want to go back in his Viv. he must like the look of his new skin. i say he but i think he may be a she. he has not eaten for three months and i think he may have done the thing where they retain sperm. i hope he/she has because that means babies :)

anyway thanks for the comments,

lee

Interesting looking snake. I don't know if it's really a Bairdi hybrid, or some other rat snake, but he's nice looking. It wouldn't surprise me to have a male fast during the entire breeding season (2-3 months), but it wouldn't be typical for a female to do this. They usually fast from just prior to their pre-lay shed until just after laying.

i know. i think i was just trying to keep my hopes up that he was going to lay eggs. this may be his pre-lay shed. only messing. i think he might of been slightly brumated as in his old Viv he had quite a dodgy heater or thermostat and the temperature could vairy a lot. but in his new Viv all thing are good and working.

many people have tried to work out what hybrid he is but i think he has many things in him. he could even have king snake as he shows a lot of typical king snake characteristics.

thanks for the help and the comments,

lee
