I think my snake is about to be in the blue period, or already was and is getting out of it. He's been hiding for the past week and he's usually out and about. Without thinking or looking something up here, I decided on feeding him. So he's eating right now and it's not like I can take his food away. So I'm worried he might regurgitate later. Hopefully not.
But when I take him out in the past week, he also has a piece of skin kinda hanging off of his head. Should I worry about that? It's just a small little fleck kind of, but I don't know.
But he looks a little milky, but I'm not sure. I've never seen a snake like that.
He also looks like he's having trouble eating the pinkie, does that happen if they're in or about to be in the blue period?
I know all my questions or all over the place, but if anyone gets me and replies, thanks.
 
I've never fed my snakes when they're in blue, so I'm afraid I can't give you 100% sure advice. I don't think that shedding causes any problems with digestion though, as long as the temps are still fine. I could be wrong though.
 
Ugh, I'm such an idiot.
He looks like he's having trouble eating. He's getting all curled up in funky positions and never does that. Plus he would be done by now.
I hope I just didn't kill my snake or something.

Don't be so hard on yourself, I have fed my snakes during blue and sometimes they eat and sometimes the don't. I do not think feeding in blue would cause any harm. I think you should just wait and see what happens.

Snakes often curl themselve's up in weird positions when constricting prey.

Are you feeding live, or f/t? the only problem I can see is that if you're feeding live, the prey has a higher chance of damaging your snake due to the snakes lethargy and impaired vision.
 
Not to try to alarm you, but I used to offer food to my snakes when they were in blue, and until recently if they ate they were fine. The last time I did it back in October, I also made the mistake of offering a slightly larger rat pup for the first time to a snake that had been eating mice. It was within her size range but she took it down and a little later that night promptly regurged it. She's fine now, never regurged again and I followed Kathy Love's instructions here in the FAQ on dealing with regurges. She's just now back to appropriate sized mice or rats after working her up through various sized rat pinks for the last 5 weeks or so.
So now if I know they are in a shed cycle I always wait until after they shed to feed them. You can't always tell though, depending on the snake, and I've been surprised a couple times with sheds I wasn't expecting from the younger ones. Luckily no regurges.
 
I feed frozen. He's just a baby and I'm just feeding him pinkies.
And he never curled up before while eating, and he wasn't constricting. He looked like he was having trouble. He finally finished the pinkie and I put him back. Now I just have to watch him and make sure he's okay.
 
I think worse case scenario is that you'll end up with a regurge. He'll probably be just fine, he's just slow because he's in shed.
 
Yeah, I'm just worried.
He's my baby. And that totally scared me when I saw him having trouble. And I thought, oh crap.
 
Okay, so now he's starting to shed(I think).
He has white patches on different parts of his body, is this normal?
He hasen't shed yet because I haven't found anything in his enclosure.
 
I was right. My snake was in blue period and I fed him when he was in that. Whoops.
The white spots did mean he was about to shed, and he shed last night just fine.
There was just a little piece at the end of his tail still there, which is off now.
And now my snake looks like a handsome little man(At least I'm hoping it's a male..I don't care much for female pets..All mine that I know the sex of are male)
He's so gorgeous. :)
