Hey...I'm new to these forums, and I've had my baby corn snake for about a month now. I bought him when he was a month old.

I haven't really had any problems with him. He likes to hide, I leave him alone alot, and handle it only sometimes. My only problem was that he was constipated because it hadn't went in over a week...So I searched around here, and put him in warm water...That did the trick. Now he goes all over the tank!

Now he's shedding in his home for the first time...It didn't come off in one piece though like I read it should. The parts that went off were his head, and maybe a couple inches lower than it. The rest of his body still is light...

What should I do? Should I wait a couple days for the rest to come off? Or should I take action and get the rest off myself? How should I go about this?

I also read that snakes normally use the water to make shedding easier...But I've never seen my snake use the water bowl once...And when I put him in the warm water so he could poo, he started FREAKING OUT...He doesn't seem fond of water.

Advice?
 
my corn was exactly the same the first shed was incomplete but she has just shed again and it was complete. It has been the opposite for one of my others hers got caught and she had some left on I found with her I held her and let her slide through my hands with a damp flannel in my hands and that worked.

I would use a damp paper towel for this technique if you don't want to give him another bath, Lugez.
 
Can't go wrong with the damp towel method. We use it 3-4 days after our come out of blue. 5 minutes or so in the towel then back in the viv. They usually shed right away. One started 2 minutes after going back in to her viv. One nice complete shed, very cool to actually watch them.
 
I have used the damp towel and my corn has shed all of hers but still has one small bit that just wont come off on her side any more tips.
 
One thing wich should be controlled to prevent partial sheds is the Humidity in the Viv.

It be at least 40 to 50% in the day and 60 to 70% at Night. It is not necessary to maintain these perfectly all the time. should not go below 40% at all though.

When you notice your snake go Blue, Keep the Humidity on the High side. I´m not at this Corn thing very long, However I have not had a Partial shed ever. Picture Perfect every time. :cool:
