shedding

Yes, the shed cycle comes on very quickly it usually lasts about 5-6 days, in my experience your snake will go very dull looking, the eyes cloudy and she will go very quiet and look really miserable during this period, she can be a bit snappy too ( I was sure she was dying the first time I witness it!) she will then go back to normal for about three days then she should shed, I hope your lucky enough to witness it and that it is a good clean shed.
 
thats how she is shes duff looking, she was getting darker red on her then now its light pink and she use to have orange dots on her back and now they fades away es shes still shiny if you look at her in a sertant way. that her eyes were red during all this but this morning they are white. and shes a tad bit grouchy i out my hand in there and she didnt move so i ouched her and she went into her hide, wich is extreamly unnormal cus she crawls up you when your hands in thereand i been misting her with water if she is shedding would new paper be a good bedding for her if notthen what is cuz thats all i have, and do they likeheat when they are sheddingand i tried giving her another bath but she sunk and i got scared and grabbed her out and so ya im not sure thats what they are suppose to do but ya she drinks more now, and is it true that if they touch or drink anything besides distiled water it will kill them. thats what the pet store told me. i went to a little pet store to price bedding and they asked what kind and i told them and i was looking at more plants and a backround and stuff like that and then she asked if i gave her distiled water and i said ya and shes all cool cuz if they have anything eles it would kill them and im likeok ill make sure that wont happen but they seemed kinda funny and not so trustworthy and i know people here have lots of snakes so i desited to ask before i believe them
 
I give my snakes bottled mineral water, if I have to give them water from the tap (faucet?) I make sure it stands overnight as the chemicals that are added to the tap water (In the UK) evaporate away, I don't think it would do much harm though, to be honest Sherry I would give Slinky some peace for a while, they really prefer to be left alone when they are in shed, they do feel a bit vunerable so I would leave her be and just watch for a few days.

does it hurt them or give them more chanes of parasites and stuff like that, and can snakes dround, because when i tried to give her a bath thats what it looked like.if she id shedding what do i do to help her
 
mine has tap H2O....make sure she has things to rub on for shedding...(hides...fake tree things, etc.) you can also spray her w/ water or make a humidity chamber...i made mine one when she was little (plastic tupperware type container w/ a whole cut in it..filled w/ plastic plants & sprayed the plants w/ lots of water..)..s/he loved it!... :crazy02:

Hi again Sherry, when did you get your second snake? Last time I looked you only had one - the one that your Mother kept turning the heat pad off for!
 
me and my mom agreed that i usualy take care of the animals and its mine so its my responsibility so she agreed to leave her cage alone. my sister brandy had one and gave it to me because it kept biting her. but he goes right to me, so i dont whats up with that. and i seen it she put in her hand afterr washing them and the snake bit her i put in my hand after being washed and it got on me. she said said to take it. its a lot bigger then my little girl and they are the same agehes like a foot at the least and sheds once a month

i was at the doctores with my grandma doing weekly dialises and i came home and a perfect shed was there and i have a gorgous snake! although talk about stress after. i was going to give her a bath and i had her in caring cage my aunt came out of the bathroom and they were face to face and my aunt screamed and freaked and almost passed out and slinky was looking at her like are you ok i was laghing and my aunt was halusinating and my snake was looking at her like she was insane. but i was disapointed i didnt get to see her shed.and i soaked her to make sure i was all off and it was. she is now injoying her food. her pink is really showing now the shed is off. when i got her she was white and pink now her belly is the only white thing on her. she is wow, really pritty, im so happy and thanks so much for the help:)
 
Fantastic,News That is just as we predicted, was the shed mainly in one piece with the tail tip attached or scrappy, not that you should worry, I am just interested ?
 
its a prefect shed. nothing missing. tip was there and everything.nothing at all mising eye caps were in the shed all scales were there, and the skin feel soooooo wired. and i looked at it under a magnifine glass nothing was missing it was all perfect. and she is amazing to look at. my aunt looked at her. i just scared her when they went face to face when she turned the corner, considering she didnt no i had a snake then boom one was in her face,lol, my cousin thought she was pritty my aunt though she was pritty when she seen her after she freaked.and i fed her after her shed and she ate very good
 
That is excellent... your obviously doing everything right, so just relax and enjoy your snake.
 
thNK ll of you soo muxh i dont think i would have done it without any of you :D. but i have one more question. after i feed her she burls in the cool side and wont go to the warm side till 2days. but thhe cool side is 70 just like its suppose to be, i just wanted to no if thats normal. her poop never smells wich i like and they look normal and everything so there no digestion problims and thank you again
 
Your little snakey knows where the warm end is if she wants to use it, sounds like you have everything in order, good luck with her and enjoy :)

my corns never use the warm side, always in the middle under their water bowls, and I dont have any problems with shedding, feeding anything.

i was so serprised by the shed because i wasnt gone 3 hours when i got back i fed my little guy and i gave buddy to my brother james and they are getting along great, talk about love at first sight lol. makes me feel good though. it waws love at first sight my brother james didnt likem snakes once he seen the one my oldest sister gave me he started asking me if he cann hold it all the time so i tought him everything i learned on here. but anywho. being gone within like 2 hours she compleatly sheded.when i left i was sad because she was normal color when the night before was dullbut when she was normal she wasnt as pritty as she is now
