Hi all.

I recently (1 month ago) purchased my first snake (yearling corn -natural morph).

She has settled in very nicely but her first shed was rather messy. Flakes everywhere.
A couple of big pieces two, but I had to soak her for 10 min to get the rest off.

My cage set up is:
1m x 0.5m X 0.5m
1 large heating pad
Florescent
hides and fake plants plus a medium sized piece of drift wood.
using asto turf.
water bowl.

I made one big mistake of feeding her just before she shed. Her eyes had not gone oblique yet so I thought it would be save.

Advice ???

You should...

...give her a humid hide. Just take a butter bowl, cool whip bowl, or anything that is size appropriate, and cut a hole in the side. Be sure to smooth any rough edges. Fill it with damp sphagnum moss or paper towels. This gives them a place of increased humidity which helps them to shed.

You're welcome!

I should have said any bowl with a lid, though. Good luck and I hope her next shed is perfect!

make sure

pls make sure you have a humid place next time she sheds...of spray when you see she`s going into shed...
just from my experience: (i have wooden boxes) i always have a the waterbowl underneith the lamp with provides warmth...besides that is the warm spot always humid (due to grass (which i need to keep hydrated every day) that keeps a very natural habitat for the corns if they need it, and its a a perfect place to lay their eggs...precautions are always needed...
