well i am a new snake lover and i just got my first corn. Its not a baby corn so i know its not his first shed but its mine and i dont know whether to feed him or handle him or what. It hasnt shed yet its a little dry around his head. should it be humid in the cage? hiding spots humid?

The Shed Cycle

Depending on each snake a bit, most hatchlings will shed about every month. Some every six weeks, etc. But around there.

Eyes will become "blue" red eyes are harder to tell if they are in the "blue" stage. During this time handling is a minimum, and feeding is optional but many snakes prefer not to be bothered by anything, even food, during this time.

Eyes will clear up. The snake will shed its skin within a week of them clearing up.

Provide a humid hide spot with damp moss or vermeculite or even damp paper towels. Misting cage once per day also works.

Ideally, the skin comes off at one time, all in one piece. You don't see it start to come off, and not finish. If this happens and the skin is still there the next day you will need to help your snake along, gently.

You can place him with your hand into the humid hide to make sure he is using it. Or you can place him in a damp pillow case, or towel which will help loosen it.

When the skin starts peeling off at the head, the snake will either shed it all off within a few minutes/an hour maybe or not. If not thats when you usually have to help.
