Should i be worried?

Okay so i ordered myself a female diffused blood red corn snake, through my local breeder (he doesnt have diff blood red so he ordered through another breeder) i paid 150$ full for it, and today i was warned, that the diff blood reds have weaker genes and therefore as hatchlings they may be harder to feed? and often times very few survive. however i was reassured, that through this breeder, i'm guaranteed to get a good strong healthy snake and they would not send me a problem feeder. is this necessarily true with this morph? or is he just warning me of the 'exception'?

That sounds a bit suspect IMO.
I never let any snakes go until they are feeding without a problem.
I know all breeders do things differently, but to take your money and then come out with a warning like that doesn't sound good to me.
If I was in your position I would ask for a refund and look for a different source.

I do fully trust this guy, i have been 100% satisfied with the 1000$ i basically put into his cash register, i think he just wants to warn me JUST in case and he gave me a guarantee that if there was something wrong with the snake, he'd refund AS WELL as replace my snake.

because i'm curious if its necessarily true for the diffused blood red morph, or if it happens the same amount in a clutch of say, i dunno, anery's. i basically want to know if it is truly common in this specific morph.

and if he was the one breeding them i would have 100% trust, but he ordered it from another breeder whom he trusts, so i have like 80% trust, i just want to know if its something thats more common in diff blood red, or if it can occur with any morph.

A few years back when Bloodreds first started to appear, they did have a reputation for being picky eaters and not thriving. However, over the generations, bloodlines have been strengthened and this is no longer the case. My Bloodred is one of my most reliable feeders.

I think that the info you were given is long out of date and you can buy with confidence, knowing that there's no underlying problem with the morph.

thanks bitsy, i can rest at ease now, he told me that usually the blood reds that the breeders send out are always good eaters, i just wanted to make sure i wouldnt be out 150$ :p She should be coming in today or tomorrow :D so excitedd!

If he bought from a reputable breeder, then the hatchling should be an established feeder (has eaten at least three consecutive unassisted meals). I think the question I would have in this purchase is whether or not the person selling to you is willing to make any guarantees that you are purchasing an established feeder. Otherwise, I would wait until the CRBE in Toronto later this month and buy directly from a breeder.
