Should I get MBKs?

Hey guys -

For quiet a while I've been thinking of getting into ATB's. I've been saving the money for correct husbandry, etc.

I went to the Exo-terra show this weekend to check them out and actually wan't impressed too much. (All my research has been on the net and these were the first live snakes I looked at). The ones I did like were way out of my price range - like 20x out of my price range. So thats on hold for now.

One thing that did catch my eye (again) was an adult MBK. Now this is a beautiful snake. So I got to thinking. This might be a good snake to watch grow, and maybe, eventually learn how to breed, etc.

My question is for anyone who owns and breeds these guys. Is this a good snake for me to look into getting a pair of, and possibly, one day breed? Is it a good to learn with, and how are they as pets? Pets are the primary reason for getting them. I'm not a breeder or collector. It's a hobby to keep and look what I like, and it must be something I'll enjoy keeping.

I look forward to any feedback, or suggestions for that matter.

I would say as a pet.. They are very similar to cornsnakes. One thing with Kingsnakes is you typically can't feed them as big of meals as corns. As they eat primarily other snakes they just aren't built to eat a meal bigger around than they are.

One thing that I would have to say about MBK's they are more aggressive than corns. They are definitely not afraid to strike at you. So they are more of a challenge in that aspect. You can tame them down. But, most of them are pretty aggressive as babies. Musking kinda smells too. Lol.

Good pets overall though.

Just decided now that I'm gonna get one. lol

I've been close too getting so many snakes, and change my mind at the last minute, because they just don't that thing that makes me really want it. (Ball Python, Striped Anery corn, Pueblan Milk, now the ATB).

MBK I love the look of though - and I'm going to get one before I change my mind again. lol

It's better half can come later. If I then decide I want to go that route.
